Best Motherboard for Ryzen 7 3700X

AMD is putting pressure on Intel by releasing the best price to performance processors. Their third-generation processors come with more cores and threads as compared to first and second-generation CPUs. Ryzen 7 3700x is an overkill processor you can get without breaking your bank. This CPU comes with eight cores and sixteen threads which are enough for any game or application these days. Also, the base clock of this processor is 3.6Ghz, and on max turbo, it reaches up to 4.4Ghz which is quite good. The Ryzen 7 3700x has a TDP of 65W, and for this, it comes with a reasonably low price.

It is true that the Intel Core i7-9700K offers more raw performance and is slightly better, but for multi-core applications Ryzen CPUs outperforms. The thing is AMD CPUs provide the same performance for a relatively low price, and i7-9700k doesn’t worth the money. You might already know that all AMD CPUs are factory unlocked so you can push them to new limits. While Intel CPUs are not factory unlocked except K-series processors which are super expensive. The overclocking powers of Intel are better than the Ryzen 7 3700x.

If you are planning to get a top-tier graphics card like RTX 2070 Super or RTX 2080 this processor is best for you. And with this combo, you can target 144 frame rates in the latest AAA games. These AMD processors give you the best performance in games, but if you do streaming, you can get more advantage out of them. One best thing you might notice these days that with the release of Intel Comet Lake CPUs, AMD is dropping the price of their mainstream CPUs to beat Intel and that’s a good time to consider these gaming beasts.

Ryzen 7 3700x is a future proof processor and can be last for the upcoming three or four years. The only thing you have to do is upgrade your graphics card in two years of time frame. Also, this processor comes with stock cooler, but if you are super crazy about the resolution, We would recommend you to get an aftermarket cooler with it. So without doing more discussion on it let’s start with our first motherboard.

Best Budget Motherboard for Ryzen 7 3700X – ASROCK AMD X470

ASROCK AMD X470

There is an ASRock x470 motherboard which is slightly better in performance than the B450 chipset in terms of SLI support and may have better VRM. Though these motherboards are expensive and you can get some entry-level x570 chipset mobo for the same price. There we had ASRock x470 Taichi series motherboard which is similar to the ROG series in terms of aesthetics and premium features. If you are building enthusiast build, this motherboard fits best for you from x470 chipset as it has great-looking RGB lights, I/O cover, and high phase power design VRM.

I found this one better than B450 chipset motherboards, but it’s an enthusiast motherboard and bit expensive. Like B450 chipset motherboards this one is also compatible with most of the Ryzen processors and backwards compatible with Zen first and the second generation. As it is a bit expensive, you might probably see better VRM than B450 while this one comes with 16 Phase Power Design which is excellent for any gaming build. For memory, this motherboard has four RAM DIMMs and supports maximum memory of 64GB at 2666Mhz, and you can overclock it up to 3466Mhz.

ASROCK AMD X470 Taichi has one USB 3.2 Gen2 which gives data transfer speed of 10GBPS, six USB 3.1 Gen1 ports, and one USB 3.1 Type-C port. This motherboard has six SATA6 slots and two high-speed PCI Gen4 M.2 slots with heatsink over them. For graphics cards, it has three PCIe x16 slots with PCI Steel Armor on two of them and three PCIe x1 slots for expansion cards. B450 chipset doesn’t support SLI, but with x470 that’s not the case because you can install multiple AMD and Nvidia graphics cards on it.

Related: Best Motherboard for i9 9900K

This motherboard gives great overclocking options and has everything you need, but there we got some cons of this mobo reported by users. The 802.11ac in this motherboard is of cheap quality. The overclocking of memory is quite tricky because of complex firmware and not well-designed UI. Also, this motherboard is power-hungry even on idle condition it consumes the same power as of maximum load. Overall my review on this motherboard is that it’s the right choice, but for its price, there are some x570 motherboards available too. Still, it’s one of the best x470 motherboards you can get for your Ryzen 3700x.

Pros

  • Support multiple Nvidia GPUs.
  • Built-in Wi-Fi and Type-C port.
  • Great overclocking power for Ryzen 3700x.

Cons

  • Power hungry.
  • BIOS UI needs to be refreshed.
  • Memory overclocking is quite difficult.

Best Micro ATX Motherboard for the Ryzen 7 3700X – ASRock B450M Steel Legend

ASRock B450M Steel Legend

We are here with another ASRock motherboard, but this one has a B450 chipset. ASRock motherboards are known for their affordable prices and high-quality build, and that’s the same case with it. This company doesn’t spend extra money on utility software and premium features; instead, they give you the best thing for an affordable price. ASRock B450M Steel Legend looks like a premium motherboard, but it comes for a very affordable price, and you can consider it if low on budget and want something sturdy and fancy.

Specification wise this motherboard is suitable for Ryzen 7 3700x as it supports most of the Ryzen 3000 CPUs out of the box and backwards compatible with older processors. This motherboard got 6 Phase Power Design VRM which is quite suitable for these entry-level and mid-range motherboards, but of course, it limits overclocking power. For memory, this motherboard has four RAM DIMMs which supports maximum memory of 64GB at the clock frequency of 2667Mhz while you can get more performance by overclocking it to 3466Mhz.

If you are looking for something sturdy, this motherboard is for you. It supports quad AMD graphics cards having two PCIe x16 slots and a PCIe x1 slot. For connectivity, this motherboard has 2 USB 3.1 Gen2 including Type-A and Type-C and 6 USB 3.1 Gen1 on rear I/O panel. For storage devices, this motherboard has six SATA6 slots and two M.2 slots for high-speed memory modules.

Best Mini ITX Motherboard for Ryzen 7 3700X – MSI B450I Gaming Plus AC

MSI B450I Gaming Plus AC

We had previously listed a high-end MSI motherboard, but this one can be used for mid-range and compact builds. As it is an ITX motherboard, it lacks a lot of features that other motherboards offer, but the build quality and price of this mobo are good enough. This motherboard comes in black colour with some red stripes on heat sinks and other components which gives it a great look. Also, it has the most affordable audio and networking controllers.

This motherboard works with Ryzen 3000 series CPUs and fits best for Ryzen 3700x. If you don’t want that features there is an ATX version of this motherboard that offers the same features set but a bit pricy than this one and provides all features an ATX Motherboard have. For memory, this motherboard has two RAM DIMMs which supports dual channel memory up to 32GB at the clock speed of 3466Mhz (OC) which is suitable for an ITX motherboard. It has 8 Phase Power Design VRM which runs on 6+2 Phase configuration and has full-size heatsinks over the VRM.

Because It is an ITX motherboard, there are some features that it lacks but for this it comes with a low price point. It has several USB ports including four USB 3.1 Gen1 ports and two USB 2.0 ports. For storage devices, it offers four SATA6 slots and one M.2 slot for NVMe SSDs. This motherboard doesn’t support multiple graphics cards; however, it has one PCIe x16 slot with MSI Steel Armor.

Our writing team did the proper research and found all of these motherboards best for Ryzen 7 3700x. We would recommend you to prefer x570 chipset motherboards over the B450 and x470 because of the presence of M.2 Gen4 slot and best quality VRM. From x570 chipset motherboards ASUS ROG series, Gigabyte Auros and MSI MPG series are best while if you are on a budget, you can go with ASRock motherboards which are affordable and best in quality. But for low budgets, B450 chipset motherboards are best although you might have to make some compromise on performance.
